A beautiful ring is on your finger and you are starting to think about walking down the aisle in a gorgeous wedding dress, flowers all around you and your betrothed lovingly watching you coming towards them. This is a wonderful and joyous feeling and you should have this all throughout your wedding planning.
It is easy to get captivated in planning your beautiful wedding! That picture perfect wedding deserving of a real wedding article makes us all get inspired. But the question before you is whether or not you really need a bigger budget or simply be strategic in your wedding plans?
Your budget is one of the first things that you will sit down and discuss when planning your wedding. It can also cause the most stress during the planning process. Sorella takes the worry out of planning. We include three areas that could reduce wedding costs - let’s break it down:
Where you Wed
Your wedding location will play a leading role in the creation of your budget. Venues that are situated in popular areas such as downtown cities or destination towns will generally charge more than smaller venues outside of those key zones.
Venues also have different packages and policies that you'll need to consider. For example, some venues might require you to use their vendors, some of which might not fit in with your budget. A lot of venues also have minimum catering requirements that may go beyond your guest list.
When you tour a venue, make sure to ask these key questions up front so there are no surprises.
Does the venue have any packages for you to consider?
What policies do they have around time limits, alcohol, music and pets if you want to include your fur babies in your nuptials?
Is there a minimum guest count for catering?
It's important to look at average costs of areas and venues before you make a final decision on where you want to get married. A lot of venues will have packages, which is super nice! Make sure to take a look at those packages and really compare what you are looking for with the costs.
There is a great site that helps you to review various wedding venues. Check out this amazing tool that assists in looking at the many wedding venues. We don't receive any commissions here - we just think this is a truly amazing site!
Time of the Year
Wedding seasons make a big difference to costs. Planning to get married on a Saturday in the summer? Chances are you're going to end up paying a lot more for your wedding. Look at your budget and how it fits in with the venue and location you have in mind and whether you can move your wedding to another season or day of the week to save on costs.
Vendors might also be able to offer you discounts for off-peak days and seasons. Have you considered a weekday wedding? You can overall cut down on your guest list with this option and venues have discounts for weekdays. This is definitely a great way to cut costs.
The Number of Guests
This is one area that can very easily get out of control. Your guests are going to take up a large portion of your budget so it pays to be sensible about who you're inviting.
Most venues will charge you for everything from drinks and food to the chair your guest will be sitting on so think twice about inviting your aunt who you haven't seen in 2 years. Keep in mind that the more people you invite, the more money you need to spend and the more time it takes to create all the special touches.
Every name tag and every wedding favor adds up when the number of guests increase. As a couple, agree on how many guests you want to invite and stick to that number.
Finding your best cost saving tools will be your best budget friend and help alleviate the stress of being in debt years after your wedding. Carefully planning your finances before booking any vendor is important. Working with a professional would be an added bonus as they can help you find better prices and keep you on track financially.
